- Cover music is welcome at
Open Mic USA.
I cannot imagine how I would have ever become a musician or how I could
ever make a living as a musician if I did not play cover music.
Unfortunately, due to copyright laws, iTunes, Myspace and YouTube do not
allow cover material to be posted on their sites. However, if you would like, I
can give you a space on my web page for one month free of charge where
you can place a picture, a short bio, links to your web page, myspace
page, or e-mail and up to fifteen minutes of material for you, your
friends, your family or potential clients to go to, to listen to your
performance. For those who would like to keep their material on my web
site longer than one month, there will be a monthly charge taken
bi-annually at $60 or yearly charge at a $100. This offer is open to
performers with original material too.
- Amateurs are welcome at
Open Mic USA.
More than half the battle of becoming a good performer is getting over
the fear of performing in public. Performing in your living room for
friends and family will only get you so far. You need to get out in the
public eye, dry mouthed and nervous, making mistakes, and getting
embarrassed along the way. (Ah! I remember those days.) Nothing pleases
me more than to see some who feels they have performed poorly one week,
come back the following week to do it all over again. It is, as far as I
am concerned, the only way to become a better performer.
Open Mic USA is not a gong show or talent contest. In fact it is quite the
opposite. No one is there to judge you and any hecklers will be removed
from the venue immediately. My goal is to help every performer feel
relaxed so they can concentrate on perfecting their talent with as
little stress as possible.
- Bands are welcome at Open Mic
USA.
As I said before amateurs and professionals are welcome at Open Mic USA
but bands need to be a little more professional when it comes to: 1.
Stage volume. If you have a drummer or guitar player who can not control
their stage volume, they will ruin your recording. Small drum sets and amps
will give you the best results. 2. Set up. Enter the building as
quiet as possible with your equipment. Set up as much of your rig as you
possibly can before going on stage. The faster you set up the more time you
have to perform. 3. Break down. Please, leave the stage quickly and
pack up as quietly as possible.
- First come first served. No phoned
in reservations or holding spots for other performers will be allowed.
